Religious Education Ministries

Religious Educational Ministries
These ministries are primarily involved in educating different people in the Catholic faith.

ADULT INITIATION (RICA)
The Adult Initiation Program provides a warm welcome to unbaptized adults and members of other faiths who wish to join the Catholic Church. It provides information on the Catholic Faith and prepares for the Sacraments of First Eucharist and Confirmation. Team members journey along with these people during their spiritual formation (often acting as Sponsors) as well as handle the many tasks necessary to maintain the weekly schedule of classes from September through May.

BAPTISM PREPARATION
The Baptism Preparation Team facilitates classes for the parents and sponsors (God parents) of infants to be baptized. In addition to the classes and baptisms, they meet once a month (with the exception of December).

CHILDREN’S RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
This program provides catechetical instruction Sunday mornings during the school year for children in grades 1 through 8 who do not attend a Catholic school. This includes sacramental preparation for First Eucharist and First Reconciliation. There is also a pre-school / kindergarten class during the 9:30 a.m. Sunday Mass. Lots of opportunities available for those who like to work with children and are willing to share their faith.

CONFIRMATION TEAM
The Confirmation Team facilitates a program for high school Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors who would like to receive the sacrament of Confirmation. The program meets weekly on Sundays after the 11:00 a.m. Mass in the Community Center.

Ministries of Spiritual Growth

Catholic Scripture Study
This group tries to gain a deeper understanding of Scripture. Currently the Scripture study group meets on Wednesdays in the conference room. During 2006-7 we are studying the Gospel of Matthew.
